Jinshan Gold Mines now expects a new crushing facility at its CSH gold mine, in Inner Mongolia, China, will reach design capacity in the first quarter of next year, the firm said on Monday.
The 30 000 t/d plant was installed earlier this year and has been test running since mid-August.
The throughput is gradually ramping up and the plant is expected to increase gold production at the CSH operation significantly.
Jinshan poured 11 388 oz of gold during September, the best monthly performance so far since the mine started production in July 2007 and well above the design expectations for the operation of 9 000 oz/m, the company said.
The previous record was the 8 525 oz poured in August this year.
“The record gold production has been achieved with increased mining output, better control on the run-of-mine ore grade, reduced run-of-mine ore particle size placed on leach pad exposing more surface area to leaching and increased leach solution irrigation flow rate,” Jinshan said.
Jinshan's biggest shareholder is China National Gold Corporation, a Chinese State-owned enterprise and the largest gold producer in China, which bought a 42% stake last year from Canada's Ivanhoe Mines.
Shares in the company rose 15,1% on Monday morning, to C$1,83 apiece by 10:24 in Toronto.
